As the individual below demonstrates, knowledge is not understanding. The reason that change is often difficult is because we often think that knowing a particular truth will free us to live it. It is this fundamental flaw that makes books and seminars only partially successful. When therapy works it is the process of taking truth and making it "understood" by the brain. In different words, it is getting the heart to understand what the mind often already does. Many people come in saying that they know they are loved but can't feel it or believe it. Some say they know the right things to do but feel compelled to do otherwise. This is the gap between knowledge and understanding. Watch the video below and it may give some insight into how we grow.
