Betrayal is not the end
THE PROGRAM:
Duration: 1 hour
Fee: $120-$150
Type: 2 individual sessions and couples session each meeting
Content: Individual marriage coaching, forgiveness, grieving, trust rebuilding, intimacy/empathy building, emotional healing
Over the years many of the couples that have come in for counseling have come in as a result of infidelity. More often than not I have seen couples resolve their pain and rebuild their marriage. But the process can be long, painful, and complicated. The person that was betrayed has to work through the anxiety surrounding trust, healing from the pain, and the process of letting go (forgiveness). The individual that committed the infidelity needs to be able to fully appreciate and connect with the pain of their spouse without falling too deeply into shame. Often that person needs coaching regarding how to work through and understand their spouses anger and pain, learning how to respond in a loving way. On top of the very difficult individual struggles there is also the relationship itself that needs healing. In many cases there were struggles before the infidelity and these will be road blocks to trust and healing.
Over the years I have found that splitting the session and meeting with the couple individually has been productive, especially in the beginning when things may be too emotionally charged to begin moving toward emotional intimacy in the marriage. I have always considered healing to be three fold- each of the individuals and then the marriage as a whole. The difficulty, I've discovered, is the challenge of addressing all three in a single session. Sometimes people opt to go for individual counseling and marriage counseling but that can often be very expensive and many times insurance does not want to cover this kind of counseling.
Because of these hurdles I've put together a package to address each of the issues and to try and make it more affordable. For those interested, I've extended the session times and tend to divide it into three parts- meeting with each individual and then meeting as a couple. The session is extended to a full hour and the fee would be $120-$150 (sliding scale). If you are interested please feel free to reach out either by email or phone.
